GasBuddy selects Foursquare as exclusive location partner

The app, which is skyrocketing in popularity, is the newest Foursquare Pilgrim SDK partner

Just in time for a summer that’s sure to be filled with road trips and adventures, Foursquare is excited to announce that GasBuddy, the leading travel and navigation app for saving money on gas, is the newest Pilgrim SDK partner.

GasBuddy – which recently reached #1 in the iOS App Store – helps users find gas stations and score savings at the pump. Foursquare’s location technology will be used to not only help remind drivers to use their Pay with GasBuddy card at the pump to save money, but also find the gas stations with the best prices on their route.

How does this location technology work?

Pilgrim SDK utilizes a dual approach to provide partners with as many robust and flexible options as possible:

  • Our proprietary Snap-to-Place technology, trained by more than 15 billion signals over the past 12 years, enables precision at scale. For GasBuddy, Snap-to-Place is well-aligned for sending real-time notifications to mobile users to prompt payment with their card to lock in savings and retrieve gas credits.
  • Pilgrim also includes the ability to leverage unlimited geofencing (based on specific regions, zip codes, DMAs, and other details), which is perfect for GasBuddy’s more broad-based use cases, such as notifying users of nearby gas stations and surfacing optimal pricing options.

Beyond these consumer engagement use cases, Pilgrim’s visit event data will also power GasBuddy’s Fuel And Convenience Business Pages, which help gas stations and convenience stores reach more consumers and promote their brand and locations. Foursquare’s data will help such businesses monitor foot traffic levels, which can help inform strategies around inventory planning, marketing efforts, location performance and much more.
